Clark Technologies, a division of Clark Development Company, the leading

Sybase to bundle the Sybase SQL Anywhere PC database server with the
MetaWorlds Internet/Intranet server software. MetaWorlds is the first
Internet/Intranet server to include full BBS (Bulletin Board System) functionality.
With this bundling agreement, customers will have access to Sybase SQL
Anywhere servers with the Clark Technologies MetaWorlds Internet/Intranet
server software. Previously, the MetaWorlds client/server option included the
ability to use a Sybase SQL Server, but the server had to be purchased
separately. Now the Sybase SQL Anywhere Server is included with
MetaWorlds, saving the user hundreds of dollars per installation.
"The inclusion of a Sybase SQL server with MetaWorlds
overcomes major hurdles common in this type of Internet or
Intranet server-- cost, security and speed," said Steve Klingler,
vice president and general manager of Clark Technologies.
MetaWorlds is a fully functional Internet/Intranet server with
complete BBS capabilities including security controls.
MetaWorlds allows remote configuration, account management
and controlled access. MetaWorlds is also based on standard
Internet protocols and as a result MetaWorlds servers can be
accessed with the any standard internet client application.
Sybase SQL Anywhere is a full featured SQL database that can
be transparently deployed, easily managed and has a low cost
of ownership. Its compatibility and inter operability with Sybase
SQL Server enables the System 11 product family to provide
a total solution from mobile computing to large-scale,
high-performance applications.

Anywhere server can be upgraded to offer smooth, seamless
expansion."
MetaWorlds with Sybase SQL Anywhere will be sold under
the Clark Technologies label and will be widely available first
quarter 1997. MetaWorlds will be available in Personal,
Community or Enterprise Server packages with prices starting
at $99.
Developer kits will be available. Through the use of MetaWorlds
standard APIs (application programming interfaces) developers
will be able to deploy their own Internet-based applications that
utilize the data from a Sybase database.
